WHY: Today's children are facing unprecedented change. •The pace of life is hurried - Most children are denied time for unstructured play due to being overscheduled or the lack of safe places that offer the opportunity to play. •Play is an essential element of the human experience: Without play, a child’s creativity, imagination, curiosity, wonder and joy are at risk. •Play enables children to learn new skills: Healthy risk taking, processing trauma, practicing social emotional thinking and simply learning to be part of a group. •Children are not outside nearly as much as they need to be.
